want a go-getter? come and get him!

Magic is a bit of an overachiever. The four-year-old shepherd mix rocks the agility course, and in play group, he’s the confident big brother — social and totally at ease. In his kennel, he’s polite as can be, waiting patiently and quietly for his turn to go out. Heck, he probably is smarter than a 5th grader. He has it all. Except, of course, a loving home. So his friends at Little Guild of St. Francis, a Best Friends' No More Homeless Pets Network partner, are reaching out to Best Friends members in Connecticut and the surrounding area to find him one.

And boy has he waited. Magic’s been at the shelter over a year, and in that time, has managed to keep a positive disposition thanks to human and canine companionship. But the facility is about to undergo renovations, meaning a major disruption in the activities Magic so enjoys. An active thinker like this dog needs a steady diet of mental and physical exercise.

In fact, Magic is so intelligent, we’re recommending he go to a dog-experienced human. He’ll thrive in a home where boundaries are clear and there’s no question as to who holds the car keys. We seriously wouldn’t be surprised if he already knows the way to the dog park.

So if you’re looking for an agility star, a nose work buddy, a hiking partner, or just an energetic and affectionate pal who gets along with people and pets, we’ve got great news: Magic’s looking for you. Check out a few of his best tricks here.
